"In August 1939, thirty-year-old Hetty Cartwright arrives at Lockwood Manor to oversee a natural history museum collection, whose contents have been taken out of London for safekeeping. She is unprepared for the scale of protecting her charges from party guests, wild animals, the elements, the tyrannical Major Lockwood and Luftwaffe bombs. Most of all, she is unprepared for the beautiful and haunted Lucy Lockwood.
For Lucy, who has spent much of her life cloistered at Lockwood suffering from bad nerves, the arrival of the museum brings with it new freedoms. But it also resurfaces memories of her late mother, and nightmares in which Lucy roams Lockwood hunting for something she has lost.
When the animals appear to move of their own accord, and exhibits go missing, they begin to wonder what exactly it is that they might need protection from. And as the disasters mount up, it is not only Hetty’s future employment that is in danger, but her own sanity too. There’s something, or someone, in the house. Someone stalking her through its darkened corridors . . ."

I'm tired of WWII-era books, buuuut I am super intrigued by the sound of this one! I am a sucker for anything with animals and the mysterious atmosphere and weird happenings just sound really interesting. Looking forward to checking it out (sometime)!

People of her low status are forbidden from sampling sweets or wearing colors. You either follow the rules, or pay a tithe and suffer the consequences.
Nirrim keeps her head down and a dangerous secret close to her chest. But then she encounters Sid, a rakish traveler from far away who whispers rumors that the High Caste possesses magic. Sid tempts Nirrim to seek that magic for herself.
But to do that, Nirrim must surrender her old life. She must place her trust in this sly stranger who asks, above all, not to be trusted."

I'm really curious to see what Rutkowski's new series is going to be about and although it sounds like a slightly familiar premise, I'm anticipating that there will be some new takes on it!.
What do you think about these upcoming releases? What are your anticipated upcoming releases?
The Animals at Lockwood Manor sounds very cool!
ReplyDeleteI'm really intrigued by The Animals of Lockwood Manor, it sounds like such an unusual story😁
ReplyDeleteBeautiful covers! I haven't even heard of these two but they sound interesting. I'm really bad at keeping up with new releases so most of the books I'm looking forward to this year are past releases that I've been wanting to read for a long time.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
Megan | Ginger Mom & Company
I've seen both of these around. The second (booksnake and all) is already on my list and the first one is headed there now! Great choices!
ReplyDeleteThese are both new to me and I think they sound really good! Thanks for stopping by earlier.
