The Friday Face-Off: Dressed to Kill

Friday Face Off New
Welcome to The Friday Face-Off, a weekly meme at Books by Proxy. Join us every Friday as we pit cover against cover, and publisher against publisher, to find the best artwork in our literary universe.  You can find a list of upcoming topics at Lynn's Books.

This week's topic is:
Dressed to Kill

This week's topic was described as being someone literally dressed to kill or someone dressed up for a big night out–naturally, I went with the former. My first thought was the US Nevernight cover, but there aren't enough editions for this post. I then remembered Blood Song by Anthony Ryan, which is essentially about a school for assassins and has a great character cover that's perfect for this topic. Let's take a look at it and some additional editions!

Blood Song (Raven's Shadow, #1)Blood Song (Raven's Shadow, #1)Das Lied des Blutes (Rabenschatten, #1)

Il Canto del Sangue (Raven's Shadow, #1)La Voix du sang (Blood song #1)Pieśń krwi (Kruczy cień, #1)

A Canção do Sangue (A Sombra do Corvo, #1)Blood Song (La Sombra del Cuervo, #1)Кръвна песен (Сянката на гарвана, #1)
2016 Portuguese | 2020 Spanish | 2015 Bulgarian

A vér éneke ( Hollóárnyék trilógia #1)Cântecul sângelui (Umbra corbului, #1)Blood Song (Raven's Shadow, #1)

My choice(s):
Píseň krve (Stín krkavce, #1)
I have to be honest: none of these really grab me that strongly, but I like the general aesthetic of the Czech one quite a bit.

What cover(s) do you like the most?

  1. I think the 2013 US paperback stands out, but there are a lot of cool ones!
