Can't-Wait Wednesday: Sundial by Catriona Ward & The Way Spring Arrives edited by Yu Chen & Regina Kanyu Wang

Can't-Wait is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings that spotlights exciting upcoming releases that we can't wait to be released! This meme is based off of Jill @ Breaking the Spine's Waiting on Wednesday meme.

This week's upcoming book spotlights are:

Sundial by Catriona Ward
Publication: March 1st, 2022
Tor Nightfire
Hardcover. 304 pages.

Pre-order:

From Goodreads:
"You can't escape what's in your blood...
All Rob wanted was a normal life. She almost got it, too: a husband, two kids, a nice house in the suburbs. But Rob fears for her oldest daughter, Callie, who collects tiny bones and whispers to imaginary friends. Rob sees a darkness in Callie, one that reminds her too much of the family she left behind.
She decides to take Callie back to her childhood home, to Sundial, deep in the Mojave Desert. And there she will have to make a terrible choice.
Callie is worried about her mother. Rob has begun to look at her strangely, and speaks of past secrets. And Callie fears that only one of them will leave Sundial alive…
The mother and daughter embark on a dark, desert journey to the past in the hopes of redeeming their future."
I recently acquired an eARC of this from NetGalley and I'm so excited for it! I've grown up near the Mojave Desert, so it's kinda fun to see it as a setting for this book, and I love how weird and creepy this sounds. Can't wait to dive in!

and...

The Way Spring Arrives edited & collected by Yu Chen & Regina Kanyu Wang
Publication: March 8th, 2022
Tordotcom
Hardcover. 400 pages.
Pre-order: Amazon | Bookshop.org

From Goodreads:
"In The Way Spring Arrives and Other Stories, you can dine at a restaurant at the end of the universe, cultivate to immortality in the high mountains, watch roses perform Shakespeare, or arrive at the island of the gods on the backs of giant fish to ensure that the world can bloom.

Written, edited, and translated by a female and nonbinary team, these stories have never before been published in English and represent both the richly complicated past and the vivid future of Chinese science fiction and fantasy.

Time travel to a winter's day on the West Lake, explore the very boundaries of death itself, and meet old gods and new heroes in this stunning new collection."
I was actually sent an ARC of this late last year, but I've been saving it to read closer to spring and its release. I am loving the sound of this collection and can't wait to dive in. I believe there are actually a couple of essays along with short stories, so I'm very curious about those as well!

What do you think about these upcoming releases? What are your anticipated upcoming releases?
