Welcome to The Friday Face-Off, a weekly meme at Books by Proxy. Join us every Friday as we pit cover against cover, and publisher against publisher, to find the best artwork in our literary universe. You can find a list of upcoming topics at Lynn's Books.
This week's topic is:
Windswept
As soon as I saw the topic 'windswept,' I immediately thought of The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. What's a more classic, windswept traditional SFF cover than that? Let's take a look at some of the other covers of The Way of Kings that exist! There are a lot, so I included a lot because I thought they were really fun and creative.
2010 US Hardcover | 2010 UK Hardcover (Pt. 1) | 2012 Spanish
2014 Polish | 2020 Polish | 2016 Russian
2014 Turkish | 2014 Bulgarian | 2019 Chinese
2013 Russian | 2015 German | 2018 Hungarian
2013 Chinese | 2018 Hungarian Pt. 2 | 2019 Ukrainian
My choice(s):
I love the original US edition for how classic it is, and I also love how intense both of the Polish editions are, but I cannot stop staring at this gorgeous Chinese edition!
What cover(s) do you like the most?
Wow, these are all so different! I kind of like the Chinese one the best, the colors are so pretty!
