The Friday Face-Off: An Inn

Friday Face Off New
Welcome to The Friday Face-Off, a weekly meme at Books by Proxy. Join us every Friday as we pit cover against cover, and publisher against publisher, to find the best artwork in our literary universe.  You can find a list of upcoming topics at Lynn's Books.

This week's topic is:
“They cluck their thick tongues, and shake their heads and suggest, os so very delicately!” – The Motel

I couldn't think of any books I've read with a motel on the cover, but I did immediately think of The Jamaica Inn by Daphne du Maurier, so I figured this might be a close enough option. It was interesting to me how many covers featured the ship rather than the inn itself.

I asked myself, "which covers make me want to read this book the most?" and these three all vied for my attention. The fact that they are all in the same row was completely coincidental, I promise.

What cover(s) do you like the most?

  1. This is a great choice. I think my favorite is the 1971 mass market, it's got that old school look to it😁

  3. Ooh that first one and third one- so Gothic! I also like the 1937, the 2013 paperback... so many good ones! So atmospheric... the Romnian one also. Tough call but I like 2013 PB one the most- must be the ship??
