Month in Review: August 2021

**Quick note: from September 1st-7th, I will be out of town and therefore will likely not be responding to comments on these pre-scheduled posts/blog hopping as much as usual-sorry! I will be sure to catch up once I'm back.  Happy reading!

August actually feels like it was a pretty solid-length month, for once, so no broken record "I can't believe the month is over" this month! What a chance. Regardless, I am still surprised that fall is somehow so close to being upon us. Anyone ready for it? I think for the first time I'm not ready to be cold again, but at the same time I live in Southern California, so it's unlikely it'll actually be cool until maybe November?

August has been so busy! I started two contract/freelance jobs, which have kept me plenty busy, although I am still looking for an actual full-time job that pays more consistently, but it's nice to have some income now. My husband and I are also moving in September! We'd been going back and forth for a while trying to figure out whether we wanted to stay in our current apartment or rent a house (we even played with the idea of buying? but it's far too crazy right now), and I'm so excited to say that we will be renting a house come the end of September! We are so excited to finally have a garage and yard (!) which also means we will. probably (finally)be getting our own dog by the end of the year. We are also going to be out of town during the first week of September (as you might have noticed), so I think September is going to be busy. I've been trying to pre-schedule as many posts as I possibly can, haha. We've accumulated a lot more stuff since moving into this new apartment last year, so packing is... daunting.

In book news (did you think I forgot about those?), I have slowly been pulling myself out of my slump and read some pretty great books! I re-read Endurance as an audiobook and it was just as good (if not better)as the first time I read it. Under the Whispering Door was a delightful follow-up from T.J. Klune, and The Fall of Babel was one of my most anticipated finales of the year, and I'm so sad yet also so satisfied now that it's over. It's not out until November, though, so my review won't be up for a while still (I just couldn't help myself!). The Last House on Needless Street was also a great surprise that I loved.

But anyway...  how was your month? Have you read any new favorites books, or anything that just didn't work for you? Do let me know in the comments how things are, I love hearing from you all!
